Exercise Benefits

Making a decision to commit to a training programme may be one of the best decisions you ever make. Imagine for one moment if exercise were a pill would you take it every day to ensure you remained healthy and fit? I suspect most people would say yes.

So how many times do you say to yourself that you are going to go to sign up to a gym or go jogging on Monday and the when Monday arrives you find a reason not to exercise? If your answer is yes, then rest assured you are not alone. Most people do exactly the same.

But what is stopping you? Are you procrastinating about which exercise to choose? There are many ways anyone can build physical activity into their lives, especially if you make it part of your daily routine.

Before you embark on any exercise plan, decide what type of exercise you enjoy. There are so many to choose from – joining a gym or exercise class, Pilates, yoga, swimming, walking, running, indoor racquets sports or dancing, to name a few. Once you decide what type of exercise you will enjoy, allocate some time in your diary and tell your family and friends that this is your time!

So now you have made a commitment to yourself aim to exercise for 1 hour 3 to 5 times per week. Over time this will improve your cardiovascular, strength and endurance levels.  But most importantly, if you choose to change your eating habits as well you can lose weight, feel happier, improve your confidence and self esteem. How does it get better than that?

If on one day you only have 20 minutes to spare instead of doing nothing, use your time wisely. If you normally go to the gym, go for walk instead. By keeping things simple and in perspective, you can make small improvements to your fitness levels that lead to lasting results.
