Triggers
We thought it might be helpful to have a list of triggers that we’ve collected along the way. It might stimulate you to think of any others that you need to add to your list!
- I eat when I’m bored, lonely
- I eat when I’m sad, stressed, lacking confidence, when something doesn’t go as planned
- If something or someone makes me very happy I eat to celebrate
- The smell of nice food makes me eat even if I’m not hungry
- If there’s chocolate in the fridge, it needs to be eaten
- If someone offers a dessert/sweet/cake, then I usually take it even when not hungry
- If a packet of biscuits or chocolate are open, they have to be eaten
- The country air makes me hungry!
- Going to the cinema, I want M&Ms/Popcorn/Sweets
- At the pub, peanuts have to be eaten if they’re put in front of me
- Going to the restaurant, I want three courses – it’s a treat
- Hangover means fishfinger sandwich
- Hangover means carbs
- See an advert of certain foods, may well look to buy it next time, or treat myself to something at the time
- There’s a two for one deal!
- That’s good value, I’m going to buy that
- I like the pretty box it comes in!
