New Goals, Healthier You
Have you started thinking about what you might be putting on your Goals List for yourself in 2018?
What is it that you want to change for yourself? What are your targets for your health that you want to get right this time?
We all have complex lives. We’re unique individuals juggling our own set of important priorities. It often takes another person, like a coach, to help us to get real clarity on the next right steps we need to take. We’re often too much in our own heads to truly discover them for ourselves. When we get a coach (like those at SmallerKnickers) who understands us, they can really help us select our healthy eating priorities and find the path of action that will work for us this time.
Change isn’t easy, and it’s rarely fast. The initial decision to change can be fast – can be overnight. Something happens, someone says something – and we decide that enough is enough. It could be a comment from a friend or loved one, it could be that an outfit doesn’t fit well, it could be a health scare. Whatever the reason, the decision can be instant.
So, what is your decision? What is it that you want to work on? Knowing that is the first step. And then there’s the plan to keep that decision alive and achievable.
The plan and your actions are longer term. Learning new skills are going to be part of that plan. You’ve spent all your life so far using the skills and behaviours you’ve learnt to date. Some of those might not be helping you any longer. So unlearning them and learning new ones are all part of the new plan.
Make your plans your project. Project ME! And every day is part of your plan, part of your project.
The skills and techniques that we use in SmallerKnickers are worth practising every day, as part of your project plan.
The small steps, if you keep doing them, will become the new habits of a successful future. Our brains are capable of significant change, thanks to the ability to learn new things (neuroplasticity). To keep this new learning, however, it’s best to keep practising.
These new ways of thinking and new habits will also help you through the tougher times. There are so many diets out there, but unfortunately many don’t take into account the mind and body connection.
There is very little taught about the connection between the diet and what the mind and body need long term. Therefore, once the weight target has been reached and people go back to their normal eating, the weight goes back on, because the fundamental underlying needs haven’t been addressed.
The answer is to learning what your body needs, how your mind helps or hinders your progress, and how to change what needs to be changed. All these changes that you can learn are part of your Project.
Sometimes things will be difficult, sometimes easier, but the determination to keep going and keep working through these times will make a difference. This is your long term Project, not a quick fix.
Those of us who have tried numerous diets, only to put weight back on again soon afterwards, can feel like giving up at the slightest difficulty. But with the right mindset, you’ll discover that these are only blips and not a disaster or the end of success.
So, are you ready for change? Are you ready to go full steam ahead with Project ME?
You can also attend one of the SmallerKnickers Workshops, to obtain more details and support so that you can achieve long term success.
