Negative Beliefs
We thought it might be helpful to have a list of negative beliefs that we’ve collected along the way. It might stimulate you to think of any others that you need to add to your list!
- After a stressful day at the office I deserve a treat
- I will never be slim and must always be on a diet
- I can’t control my eating
- I’m useless
- I just give up
- Everyone sees me as having a big tummy
- I was always bullied as a kid for being fat, and they were right
- My shape is genetic
- I will never be slim/I’ll always be fat
- Ever since I’ve been on HRT/medication I can’t lose weight
- I can never keep the weight off
- I can’t get below a certain weight
- Eating healthy is hard work
- Every time I’m slim something bad/negative happens
- I’m a chocoholic
- Why would any man fancy me like this?
- Weight problems run in the family
- I’ve tried every diet and nothing works for me
- If I’ve been for a walk/exercise, then I can have something calorific
- If I want to be slim, I’ll have to starve
- I’ll never be able to eat my favourite foods again
- I’ll have to live on fruit and water!
